Detail
Crafted with tradition, formed by vision, this sake set celebrates intention. From Shiga’s skilled artisans and KIGI, a Tokyo-based creative group. Inspired by origami folds, each vessel is shaped with straight lines. Octagonal sides, distinct and deliberate. Made from Shigaraki clay, light as air, strong as stone. Sourced from the ancient earth of Lake Biwa, the great Japanese bowl.
The pieces are subtly impressed with the letter K, the number 670.25 km² (Lake Biwa’s surface area), and markings from the characters of the word ’Ki-ko,’ a nickname that blends ‘vessel’ (器, ki) and ‘lake’ (湖, ko). A black clay bottom grounds the set, a final touch of refinement.
